Meeting Minutes - July 7, 2009

The meeting was called to order by President Steve Schulze (N9UDO) at 8:00pm, due to low attendance.

The minutes from the meeting on June 2, 2009 were distributed and reviewed. Dave Spearing (KB9CSW) made a motion to accept the minutes as presented, and Gary Sorensen (W9ULK) seconded the motion. A vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously.

Steve (N9UDO) presented the following bill: Swapfest fliers $90.58, Boy Scouting exhibit shipping $44.35, field day expenses $50.82. Total =  $185.75. Gary (W9ULK) made a motion to reimburse the expenses as presented, Jane Steinweg (N9JAS) seconded the motion. The vote was unanimously in favor.

Old Business:
The Jim Paul memorial balloon flight certificates have been mailed. A total of 148 contacts were documented, and 15 certificates were requested and mailed.

Fox Hunt: No news.

Field Day was a huge success!  We had a designation of '3-A' this year with an estimated 263 contacts made. GOTA station report to follow. Also, a few VHF-UHF contacts were made. As always, it was about the food! Our greatest thanks to Karen Schulze and Kim Harrison for spoiling us again this year! We had several people stop and of course they had to ask what we were doing! We happily shared our experiences, goals, and excitement with all who would listen. Brian Bridgeford, from the Baraboo News Republic, came to our field day site on Sunday. He wrote a nice article that appeared on the front page of the BNR on June 29, 2009. Thank you Brian! Field day pictures have been added to our website: www.yellowthunder.org. Let's do it again next year!

New Business:
All hams picnic at Steve's (N9UDO) will be on Saturday, July 11, 2009. The fun begins at 3:00pm and will conclude with a bonfire at dusk. For more details and directions to Steve's (N9UDO) home, please see our web site: www.yellowthunder.org.

Circus City Swapfest: August 22, 2009, at the Baraboo Elks Lodge in Baraboo, Wisconsin. The first table and ticket requests has been received! Details will be finalized at our next meeting on August 4, 2009. All are encouraged to attend this meeting. Our success depends on the participation of all our members!

D-Star project: Getting closer!

Tom Harrison (N9PQJ) made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:00pm. It was seconded by Steve (N9UDO), and the vote was unanimous.

Our next meeting will be August 4, 2009.

Winner of buck-night was: Mike Quinn (W1MJQ). Mike was not present, so the prize will be $4.00 next month!
